The Best Coffee Machines For Home

There is no one-size-fits-all coffee machine. We've put together our top choices, ranging from an automatic that grinds your beans and packs them to semiautomatics that give you the most control over your espresso.

The Breville Oracle Touch achieves the perfect balance between automation and the need to understand the basics of espresso-making. This is our top choice for a machine that makes coffee.

1. Rocket Appartamento

Rocket Appartamento makes a great choice for those looking to make espresso at home without losing quality. This espresso machine with a small footprint was created for those who have limited counter space. It is built to last and has excellent quality and a small footprint. It comes with a 1.8 milliliter copper heat exchange boiler and commercial E61 Group Head, so you can steam your milk and brew your coffee at the same simultaneously.

The machine looks great as well, and has an elongated side panel with engraved hot water and steam spouts. This is a fresh update on the classic look of Rocket that is already impressive for a small machine. It also comes with a black pressure gauge that shows when the boiler is ready to use.

This means that you'll need to be extra vigilant when emptying and refilling the machine, especially when you are using it regularly. This is a sacrifice that comes with having less footprint. This is not something that is unique to this model.

You can still make a large amount of coffee with this machine, and it will easily keep up with your demands. We would suggest investing in a good grinder, like the Baratza Sette Gigante for increased consistency and flavor. You can also use the machine in conjunction with a Rocket Portafilter to improve the tamping.

As a prosumer espresso machine The Rocket Appartamento is capable of making great drinks, and it's simple to make latte art. It's important to know that this machine was not designed for beginners. There is a little learning curve for those who upgrade from appliance-grade espresso machines. The heat exchange boiler could be a bit tricky to operate and you'll need to learn the basics of cooling flushes.

Both the Lelit Bianca and the Rocket Appartamento allow connecting to a water supply which allows you to always have fresh, cold filtered water on hand for your drinks. The latter, however, comes with a 2.25-liter water tank, which could be more difficult to refill than some of its competitors.

2. Lavazza A Modo Mio Jolie

This machine is built to Lavazza's top standards. The machine is able to reach the temperature for brewing quickly, so you can prepare your first cup in just 35 second. The tank is able to be filled, as the lid can be removed to create a large hole. You can fill it up using tap water, if you like.

The Lavazza A Modo Mio is the smallest of the models, but it packs a punch. It costs less than PS100 at the full price and is much less expensive than the Nespresso Essenza or similar machines from SMEG or Desea. This makes the Jolie an excellent choice for those without the budget or space to buy a traditional espresso maker, but would like to experience the pleasure of authentic Italian espresso.

The Jolie is simple to use and requires little counter space. You only need to press one button to turn on the machine and again to start dispensing your chosen brew. The button is illuminated so that you can see the amount you've consumed. You can also stop the process should you prefer to consume the pod in smaller quantities.

There's no steam wand available on this model, but you can add a milk frother (available separately) to add some creamy froth if you want. The machine is very quiet as well and can be used in a small area or in a flatshare kitchen without causing any disturbance to anyone else.

They are readily available in many supermarkets along with regular ground coffee machine amazon and coffee beans and you can also purchase Lavazza A Modo Mio compatible pods online.

The Jolie and Milk is a smart-looking capsule machine that includes a milk warmer and frother. It includes a 75cm plug and power cable, a warranty card, a quick guide, and a tester pack comprising nine Lavazza pods. Six are roasts (two Qualita Rossa and two Lungo Dolce) and two are decaffeinated. The machine is small enough to be able to be stowed on the floor or placed under the cabinet.

3. Breville BES870XL

The Breville Barista Express appears to be a costly espresso machine. If you're willing to put in the work to learn how to use it this is a fantastic espresso maker for home use that is more efficient than some of the more expensive models available. It's an excellent value for its class and is particularly useful for those who are new to the field and don't have an espresso machine that costs up to $100.

The model is just below the top of the line for Breville (their Oracle is the most expensive model at $2,199), but it's still a solid choice for baristas at home who are on a tight budget. It has plenty of customizable features, and it even comes with a built-in burr grinder that makes the whole experience much cheaper. It's also a single boiler machine, which means that it can only handle one thing at one time.

Despite being a relatively newcomer to the market for espresso machines, Breville has quickly made an impact through their top-quality machines. This machine is no exception and it comes with enough control to let aspiring baristas develop their abilities without spending a lot more than necessary.

It's not without its quirks however. The hopper is on the side, not the top of the model. It's not a big deal, but can be a hassle if you need to give several shots at once. The rear-facing position of the tank makes it difficult to know the amount of liquid left.

But if you're prepared to spend some time learning how to master the Breville Barista Express, it's a great, do-it-all appliance for any home espresso lover. The only downside is the price, which can be a turnoff for some buyers. If you're looking for a less expensive option, check out our review of the Gaggia Classic or the La Pavoni Impresso. Both machines are comparable in their capabilities and offer a little more control than the Barista Express. However, they are a fraction of the price.

4. OXO Brew 9 Cup

A high-tech smart machine for coffee with a simple user interface that produces great coffee. Its sleek stainless steel design and backlit LED display add a stylish appearance to your kitchen. It features only one dial to program the number of cups you would like to make. It comes with the 2-4 cup setting and a 5-9 cup setting. Its brewing process is similar to pour-over that many coffee enthusiasts believe is the most delicious coffee. The water is heated to the perfect temperature and poured over the grounds with a shower-head for uniform saturation. The brewed coffee then collects inside the double-walled thermal carafe, which can last up to 60 minutes. The pause-and pour feature lets you remove the carafe while brewing and fill your cup. The machine pauses the brewing process and displays a red carafe light on its LED interface until you return it, then resumes and finishes brewing.

The OXO 9-Cup coffee machines prices maker has been SCAA certified, which means that it complies with the strict standards for technical quality. The brew cycles it uses are the same as those of the Bodum Bistro and the Technivorm Moccamaster 741 but it lets you control the temperature and brewing time.

In our tests, the OXO Brew 9 Cup produced an excellent cup of drip coffee that filled an entire carafe in just 7 minutes 41 seconds. This is slightly more than the 6 minutes that the Bonavita Connoisseur or the Moccamaster calls for, but it is within the range that professional coffee machine experts suggest to make a great cup.

It also requires you to grind your own beans prior to making. You can opt for either a manual grinder or a more automated model like the Baratza Encore. It has various grind settings, as well as a hopper for whole beans.

The only downside is that the carafe and water reservoir aren't dishwasher-safe this could be a issue for certain users. The stainless steel is easy to clean by hand, however. The OXO 9-Cup is a top contender for the top drip coffee maker due to its sleek design and easy to use interface.
